Instruction and Management

As far as classroom management goes, I believe that it is essential to the classroom to be able to obtain this. I think there is never a classroom management style that can be perfected, because we are always growing as individuals and educators. Having effective classroom management is also being able to build relationships and connections with the students and encouraging them to take their own part within their learning. Within classroom management, setting clear expectations have helped me throughout my student teaching in which I plan to bring with me in my own classroom in order to keep my students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, and on task. Within setting clear expectations, I have learned that there is always room for improvement and practice with my students as well as myself. This is all the same for the safety within the classroom and my students. It is important for the students to follow and understand the safety rules for them to continue to practice and engage in the content without harming anything or anyone else. Instructing this would be to again, set clear expectations from the very beginning and a result in not following expectations will be to lose the tool/privilege to engage in the class that day. I will store and arrange things organized and students will need permission to open this.

Differentiation is something that I think is very important within everyone’s learning because we all learn at different levels and places as well as create at different paces. Differentiation can come in many different aspects as well, something I have done for differentiation is to first create a demonstration for the students to follow, something they can see the process of in real time. Within this, I can differentiate up by offering a “challenge” option or to just keep it simple and meet the general expectations of the assignment. I am a visual learner and in being so, I understand the students who may need more of a push to complete a task, in which I can either work with them one on one or show the whole class a completed example so they know what they can make their goal out to be. Lastly, checking in on students constantly throughout the lesson can help me gauge where each student is as well.

Lastly, I believe that making the classroom a community and safe is the biggest component to having a successful classroom. I think by building those close relationships with students will help me within this goal and bring me closer to the students outside of the classroom as well with their families. Parent partnership is important and I think using volunteers with students' parents as much as possible will help me in creating meaningful relationships with them and even more so with the student. Overall, I have enjoyed my experience with teaching and learning more and more with becoming a successful educator and I am excited to continue learning and creating with my students.
